Group files fresh motion to stop Fayose’s inauguration Posted by irohinodua ⋅ October 9, 2014 ⋅ Leave a comment fayoseIrohinO’odua has been informed this evening about a fresh motion filed in Abuja, by a E 11, a socio-cultural group and the Young Democratic Party, (YDP) a political party to stop the inauguration of the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Mr Ayo Fayose. Our correspondent learn that E-11 and another registered political party filed the suit today at the Federal High Court in Abuja, calling for a halt to the scheduled Thursday, October 16 swearing-in ceremony of the PDP candidate, Mr Fayose. ‘The suit is aimed at urging the court to stop the inauguration of Mr Fayose come Thursday October 16. We base our logic on the fact that there is an outstanding case against Mr Fayose, that he is not qualified to have contested the June 21 election. He forced his way, against the law. Now, on the orders of President Goodluck Jonathan, the Ekiti courts have been shut down with armed soldiers manning the courts. The option left for us is to stop the inauguration pending the determination of the substantive suit”, one of the plaintiff’s lawyers who said he was not authorised to speak told our correspondent this evening. He said his group has requested for accelerated hearing so that while soldiers continue to prevent the sitting of the Ekiti judges, another window of opportunity would be opened to challenge Fayose’s bid to assume leadership on October 16. Meanwhile, the number of soldiers blocking court premises today appear to have doubled. Our correspondent observed that many armed soldiers have now been posted to courts across the state in Ekiti. Our correspondent learn today that the Ekiti State Chief Judge, Hon Ayodeji Daramola was prevented from entering the court premises when he arrived in the early morning today.
