Group input needed: Ugh my saga continues. My exN is currently deployed. His mother was granted his parenting time while hes away, per state law. She is also his power of attorney so has some legal rights as well. I requested a child support evaluation bc circumstances have changed significantly since it was last evaluated almost 2yrs ago. They are refusing to agree to an income withholding order and trying to offer less than what the states formula for calculating support is. I refused their offer so we are going to court. My lawyer received a subpoena for documents including ally income since 2013 (when the divorce was finalized), all our childrens medical bills since 2013, all financial gifts Ive recieved since 2013, all my current household expenses, etc. My lawyer is having me gather everything to bring to court in a couple weeks but will argue that this info is none of their business and is not pertinent to chikd support. I think theyre going to try to prove that i cannot provide for the children since Im a stay home mom (my husband works -- money is tight but we manage). They are arguing that theyve had to buy things for the children, so chikd support shoukd be lower (Ive never once asked them for help, theyve simply disliked the things Ive purchased for the children). Im stressed and frustrated with the whole thing. Im not really worried about losing custody, but the thought of having to defend myself and my parenting skills and care is stressful. Id love any tips or well wishes as I prepare for the hearing in a couple weeks.
