Group pushes for CV teachers’ wage increase Rep. Antonio Tinio of ACT Teachers Party-list has filed House Bill 245 increasing the minimum salary of public school teachers to P25,000 and P15,000 for non-teaching personnel. Lim said his group supports Lim’s initiative, although, the P25,000 wage increase is only based on the prices of commodities in 2010. Early this year, the Regional Development Council then chaired by National Economic and Development Authority 7 Director Efren Carreon received data from the Department of Social Welfare and Development that the poverty threshold in Central Visayas was P18,860 a month. This means that a family of five with an income of less than P18,860 is living below the poverty line. In his explanatory note, Tinio said the current government pay scheme fails to fulfill the criteria for salaries set by the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers.
