Grow your own avocado at home - it is super easy and fun!! This picture is of our plant we grew from the seed. Steps: 1. Remove the pit from avocado carefully so you dont cut it. Wash it clean. 2. Locate which end is up and which end is down - the up end is the end where the top of avocado was. That is where it will sprout, too. 3. Pierce with 4 toothpicks 4. Place avocado seed half submerged in a glass of water leaving the top of the seed above the water. 5. Wait for it to form a root, and sprout. This could take up to 8 weeks. 6. Pot in soil when the sprouted tree is about 6 tall. 7. Water and watch it grow. 8. Pinch top leaves to encourage bushiness. 9. If you get bugs on the leaves, wash them off with water and spray the leaves with mixture of water, small liquid of dish washing liquid and a tsp of neem oil. Check every 4-5 days and repeat if bugs come back. 10. Do not leave the tree outside if it is below 45 degrees. 11. It takes years to get the first avocado fruit. It may help growing few trees together to help with pollination. Growing your own plants from a seed is very healing. It takes for one to connect with the Earth and the plant, and understand how the process works. It gets one more aligned with WHAT IS. Have fun growing your own avocado!
