Growing up a child to be able to do an individual talent skillfully - it doesnt just happen. It takes hard work, perseverance, and consistent daily practice. It takes a parent who will actively supervise this consistent daily practice without letting other useless activities creep in and sabotage the effort. It doesnt even require a long period of time - just ten or fifteen minutes each day when the child is young. It is a rare child who possesses the urge to consistently push himself day after day, month after month, year after year. It takes a parent who will make the time happen. But it is worth it - if for the discipline alone that it teaches the child.
