Growing up in church, I always felt a littIe guilty when the pastor would describe Heaven. I dont care much either way about expensive gems and gold, Ive always been the type to be happiest in a cozy little cottage not a huge mansion (theyre lovely, just not for me), I couldnt bear the thought of having no animals or other things I love around us (yes, we are merely human down here, but I dont think our spirit forgets the good things we are drawn to on earth) and heres the worst part: I will praise God always, but while everyone else reacted ecstatically to the idea we would be knelt in front of His throne worshipping and singing for all eternity, I always secretly hoped there would be much more to do. Ive always thought it would be more like a place where our happiness, in its entirety, will be filled with the good things we find to be most wonderful and make us spiritually fulfilled. I read a devotional this morning that voiced the very same thing. Its nice to know Im not alone in thinking God has much more planned for us than simply singing and supplication in front of His throne forever. Not that there wont be that too, of course; Ill be awfully grateful I made it there. However, Im fairly sure God will want me busy elsewhere when it comes time to sing, anyway... :7)
