Growing up in rural New Mexico I developed friendships that have - TopicsExpress

Growing up in rural New Mexico I developed friendships that have lasted a life time. My earliest memories involved the Wayne Preston family. He worked for years for the Buddy Walker, Bonito Ranch near Corona. He and his wife Doris were wonderful neighbors. Their daughter Beth and I were childhood friends back to the time that we had so little hair between us her mother could give us each a permanent from the same TONI home perm kit. Wayne is over 90 years old now and he whittles. He made this walking stick from a piece of black walnut. Each scale on that snake is individually whittled. He told me to carry it when I walk to bop aggressive dogs with. It would come in handy. It comes in very handy. I have discovered if I carry it into Walmart, I no longer have to wait in line at the pharmacy. They vacate and give me the front of the line position!! It is a great piece of art and a wonderful motivational crowd disperser...
