Growing up on 47th and Wolcott, there was a lot of Depression in the neighborhoods. Especially amongst the kids. If I wasnt getting bullied for my appearance,my financial situation with my mom,we had it rough. Other kids were. Some single mothers had up to 7 kids. I remember kids living with relatives.even living in a house donated by the church they were attending. I seen many depressed people growing up. Money was tough,Death was striking families. The Area Taverns were full of Depressed men who sat on that bar stool to drown their sorrows. I started writing at a young age and I was a people watcher from my front porch. Ive seen the horrors of Depression and I seen the caretakers.
