Growing up, we all recognized that the Pharisees and Sadducees were the bad guys cuz they were hypocrites. Now, I see that they totally thought they were doing the right thing. They were entrenched in a system where their efforts at righteousness were recognized by society as good and holy. They were even looked up to as spiritual leaders. However, in spite of all their religious activity...they rejected the person of Jesus. People think they are not in the category of Pharisee, just because they admit to sinning every day, and admit to being followers of Jesus. This, in reality, is the modern day Pharisee situation of the Western Church. Hypocrisy = saying one is a believer in Christ while refusing to obey Him. ~Amy Torres
