Guadalcanal Diary released their debut full length LP in 1984, Walking in the Shadows of the Big Man. It was hard to ignore the connections to R.E.M., starting with the production by Don Dixon, but they were able to define themselves on their own terms. To help give this post a little authenticity, I found a clip taken from MTV back in 1983 when their debut EP was released.
