This month, Guangzhou will join Shanghai and Beijing as cities that will allow international transit passengers to stay for 72 hours without a visa. The United States is one of 44 countries whose citizens are entitled to the visa free status provided they hold third-country visas and plane tickets. Transit passengers can apply in the airports of all three cities. Chengdu hopes before long to also be able to offer a 72-hour visa free stay to transit passengers.
