Guardian Advocate Volunteer: Are you looking for a fantastic hands-on clinical volunteer experience? If so, please consider this very important program-- we are currently seeking approx. 25 Psychology majors, current students and those who have already graduated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Guardian Advocate program offers a Volunteer the opportunity to become better versed in patients’ rights, Baker Act, and 1-on-1 experience working with patients in a behavioral hospital setting. This program will build confidence in the times in which we much use this act for a family member, friend, or a client. Guardian Advocate Volunteers will receive a specific certification that will allow them to advocate for an individual while they are Baker Acted. Our volunteers work with individuals who are currently experiencing crisis and typically work with patients with schizophrenia, bipolar, psychosis, and schizoaffective disorder. Volunteers are expected to visit patients that they work with at least three times per week, totaling five hours per week per patient.
