Guardians Of The Galaxy review. 4.5/5 stars. This is Marvels risky movie, seeing if they can bring in a crowd for a comic book movie not based on a major character. I think it worked. The good: Very entertaining. It was very comedic, I found myself laughing frequently in spite of the universe-shattering events surrounding the plot, which I loved. This is not a movie that takes itself seriously at all, the complete opposite of Iron Man 3. Its a fun space adventure, something we dont see very often (not since Fox canned Firefly). The plot was simple enough to allow for some character development, the scenery and effects were good without being bloated and overwhelming (something George Lucas failed miserably with in the prequels), and the script was mostly spot on and amusing. I was skeptical about a talking raccoon being a main character on screen, but it only took one particular scene to completely empathize and buy in. The action scenes were a welcome departure from the shake the camera in close ups and people will assume its action that I hate (Im looking at you Michael Bay). I was very impressed with the fighting scenes. The bad: The reason I dont give it 5 stars, a few scenes the comedy and the script seemed a little weak, a little forced, but not groan-worthy or anything. Two shots had that we need to put this shot in to make the trailer look cool feel. Thats really it. The plot moved along in a fairly predictable fashion, but for such a risky film Im not going to really knock them for that. If youre a comic book or space/sci-fi fan, youll probably really like it. If youre solely a super hero film fan, I honestly want to know what you think. I have no idea if the average viewer will appreciate it, but I loved it! Marvel never disappoints with the after-credits scenes. The first one was very light hearted and funny, I dug it and Ive still got the song stuck in my head. The second one, Im not going to ruin anything at all. Im ready for May 2015 and Avengers 2, but now Im going fanboy crazy for Avengers 3!
