Guess! Just guess! Guess how many extra Facebook page likes folk band Bellowhead got in the last week, after their live support set in front of 50,000 people at Radio 2s Hyde Park on Sunday, live coverage of their set on Radio 2 (a station with 15.57 million weekly listeners), extra promotion on Chris Evans breakfast show (with a weekly listener base of 9.83 million), prominent spots on Radio 2s youtube station and BBC iPlayer, and having their live set available on the BBC red button all of this week, along with any other promotional activity that might have happened elsewhere in the lead up and aftermath of the Radio 2s Hyde Park Festival In A Day with Jeff Lynne ELO headlining. Any guesses? So far in the last week Bellowhead have received 213 new page likes! Now that doesnt make me feel so bad about not getting any new page likes at my humble gigs. Statistically speaking, playing at that percentage game 213 is roughly 0.4% of a 50000 crowd, Id have to gig in front of a 250 person crowd to get 1 extra facebook like. :) Im just using Bellowhead as an example here, mainly because it was the smallest of the acts in terms of existing facebook likes. Looking at the facebook stats for all the bands who played, there was roughly between a 0.3% and 1.3% growth in facebook likes in the past week, with the exception of Jeff Lynnes page which got a 3.9% increase in likes, which is to be expected since he was the feature act ( and a great one too :) ).
