Guess this is how I write with five hours of sleep... Humidity - TopicsExpress

Guess this is how I write with five hours of sleep... Humidity and Heat reaching down from the sky like two big hands that press themselves real hard down on my shoulders.. Got no choice but to just keep moving forward. Photos: The patch of dirt that lines our street With the light rain and the monsoonal humidity all the scents blend themselves, along with the moisture rising off the pavement, into a bouquet for the senses. Wild sage, fennel, lavender, rosemary, cactus; all hearty little plants that withstand all the heat. Something magic about all those scents mixed with the smell of wet asphalt. Just had to throw a photo of the dogs into the mix because if not for them I would probably not be walking around while the sun is rising. Ruby has figured out how to drag the leash from outside, into my room, and drop it on top of me. Better than an alarm clock. I drink a cup of coffee, throw on my clothes, fasten the leashes...and were off! And then outside, the way the rain lights up, falling in front of the street lamps. Some guys leaning on their car at La Estrella down the street, blasting Ive got 5 on it, out of the bass heavy speakers mounted in the back of their lowered car. The chefs inside blasting cumbias, the smell of food on the grill, and down the block- warning bells and the red flashing lights as the train whizzes by. The guys who wheel around everything they own in shopping carts, their voices boom and echo in front of the old church entryway. People will start showing up for mass in a few hours. The guy who we see every morning sound asleep in front of the library down on Figueroa st., and I want to paint a picture of him sleeping there , all the stories on the other side of those doors, rushing into his subconscious and coloring his dreams. The nice lady who we see every morning who works at the gas station up on Fig. and York who smiles at me but not the dogs.... A photo of Chinatown that I stole off of Daniels page taken right when we stepped into the old neon lit courtyard last night. Took the Gold line and headed to a crowded restaurant on Broadway that Daniel knew about. I could see why it was packed ; the food was so good..Sticky Shrimp yum-yum!! Alicia Velasquez, (Alice Bag), was having a showing of her paintings. I never knew she was such a talented painter. The portraits were of the members of The Castration Squad, a cool band she used to play in... I was hoping to run into Tracy who used to play guitar because I havent seen her since the days since we were young kids running around outside in that same courtyard while all the bands were playing music upstairs at the Hong Kong Cafe. Sure enough she was there, and that was a pretty big highlight of the evening... Heres a photo of her and Alice back in the day, and Alices paintings!! Kind of a nice thought to think that many of the folks who were around back then are now getting the recognition they so deserve in books and art galleries . Thanks for letting me ramble on all over the place, Have a good Sunday..xoG
