Guess whats the single most important interview question I ask the several hundred people I interview with each year for jobs at Mindvalley companies. Its How many non-fiction books have you read in the last month. Readers rock. They see the world not in black and white but in shades of grey. They dont hold on to dogma or specific solid idea, theyre open to opinion, contrasting thoughts and new ways of looking at the world. They constantly challenge their own ideas, grow, and can innovate fast. I dont care about college degrees (pointless rubbish). But if youre the type of person who reads more than 2 books a month, attends seminars, buys audio courses, listens to audible rather than radio on your commute to work, and attends events like Burning Man so you can challenge your world views -- I think youre going to be a great hire. The best people I hire are constantly the best learners. The VERY best people I hire read a book a week.
