In his native Australia, the government reacted to incidents of gun violence with a buyback campaign that claimed to be increasing safety. But while Australia’s crime rate dropped by nearly the same amount as America, which didn’t have a gun ban, violent crime overall in Australia increased by 42.2 percent while America’s dropped 31.8 percent.
