Guess who got caught LYING? youtube/watch?v=ARDSWuROssc Gongwer News Service found a February 9, 2012, video of Mr. Snyder discussing his proposed budget for the 2012-13 fiscal year, the second budget proposal of his administration, on his official YouTube page. In this clip, Mr. Snyder addresses his K-12 funding recommendation for the upcoming fiscal year. Im pleased to say were increasing funding for K through 12 education this year, he said then. Last year was a tough year. We had to make some cuts, but they were far lower than the cuts we had to make for most areas in our budget. Mr. Schauers campaign, when shown the video, blasted Mr. Snyder. Rick Snyder cut education funding. Period, said Schauer spokesperson Cathy Bacile Cunningham. This video proves that one candidate has been lying about education funding, and his name is Rick Snyder. The truth is, Snyders education cuts raised class sizes, led to teacher layoffs, and hurt school quality. The people of Michigan deserve a governor who will tell the truth and make education our top budget priority, and thats exactly what Mark Schauer will do. And when Mr. Snyder and Republican legislative leaders reached the target agreement in May 2011 on the 2011-12 fiscal year budget, Mr. Snyders press office released a statement that mentioned how the agreement included an extra $310 million for K-12 schools above his initial recommendation. This effectively reduces the per pupil cut to less than $100, the statement said. Snyder press secretary Sara Wurfel said Mr. Snyder could have been talking a number of things in the video and that she would not parse what the governor said at different times. Bottom line is still the exactly the same with facts and numbers that are crystal clear - education spending has gone up every year since the governors been in office and is $1 billion more higher now than then, she said. End of story. Its that simple.
