Guess who lets me pet her? :D lol, well, under some conditions. Zelda went out mid-morning this morning, but came to the back in mid-afternoon and came right in. Shes had dinner with us, and just hanging out and resting a lot - like she can finally relax now that shes warm and safe and dry. She has been testing out the purr motor quite a bit when she hops into a bed and gets into position. One time, she came up to me and looked at my lap, since shes seen everyone else there, but she wouldnt coax. I did get a couple of finger baps and finger sniffs, but if Im walking up to her or past her, shes still usually skittish. However, if shes lying down, then I can pet her a little - she doesnt react like Im skinning her alive, the way some ferals and barn cats react to touch, but shes not enthused either - more like shes curious about this strange alien custom, but its not too bad - at least not worth getting out of bed for. She has sort of taken over the flower bed on my coffee table desk - the one that was Clouds from the nursery. Its closest to me, but on the opposite side of the laptop screen, so there is a little barrier - but one I cross on occasion. She keeps coming back to that spot after she plays or eats or drinks, so my occasional invasions obviously dont concern her much. In this evenings rounds of pet the formerl feral kitten, I expanded my repertoire a bit, going further down her legs, over her side towards her tummy, and up to her head and ears. I didnt push the rub the tummy part, since I dont want to provoke a reaction, but when I went from back towards tummy, she wasnt alarmed. When I found that scritchy spot at the base of the back of the ears, then ooooooooooh, she liked that and pushed her head back into my fingers. I think shes going to make the housecat conversion just fine, and much more easily than a typical 9-10 month old feral.kitten.
