Guidelines for Adopting.... We are looking out for the DOGs best interest so our policies and procedures are there for the dogs and what we feel is best for them. Here are some policies we are guided by: 1) An application is necessary before meeting our doggies and you must be preapproved. Why? Our dogs are in foster homes and the foster families have lives outside of taking care of the dogs. To visit and pop in to meet a dog is a distruption to their lives so an appt for serious inquires is a must. Also, all people will have to come and meet the dog at the same time. 2) We do not do overnight visits to see if its a good fit. Why? The dog has been bounced around enough and you will learn nothing by having a dog for a night or two. The dog needs time to settle in and become accustomed to yet another home with new rules, new people etc. Its not fair to the dog to assume you will know anything by having a trial weekend. 3) If you have a dog you will need to bring the dog to meet his/her potential family member. We have to make sure everyone likes each other. 4) We are a small organization run by ALL volunteers so processing an application sometimes take time 5) We match the dog needs to lifestyle so while you may want a specific dog if we feel its not a match we will not adopt to that home but does not mean another dog would be a great match for you. 6) Adoption fees are 250.00 for local dogs and 300.00 for dogs from the states and other areas. The fee (hopefully) covers vaccines and spay/neuter. If the dog is a puppy and under 5months you will be required to spay/neuter the dog and we will follow up with vet at time of neuter/spay to confirm. There are many costs involved in rescue and we need to recoup some of the costs to help other dogs. Some dogs arrive neutered/spayed (rarely) and the adoption fee still applies since other dogs cost much more than the adoption fee to to poor health etc. 7) We ALWAYS recommend feeding your new furry friend a quality dog food which is usually found in a pet supply store and not a grocery store although some have a holistic healthy section now for animals 8) we no longer have a website but this site is very up to date and if you require an application please send an email to leah@ecgsrescue Look under ADOPTABLES in the album section of this page. 8) Last but not least...some dogs require training and some will require mandatory obedience. We only recommend trainers using positive reinforcement methods. Fostering is rewarding as well...and by fostering it means to take care of one of our adoptables until their permanent home is found. Vet trips are a part of fostering but the rescue is responsible to provide the necessities until the furever home is found PS: We do know that other rescues follow their own policies and procedures and we are all unique in our own way.
