Guilford County Folks: There is a free Community Garden Workshop coming up next weekend! Date: Saturday, January 24, 2015 Time: Registration 9:00 a.m. / Program 9:30 – 11:30 am Where: Cooperative Extension Office, 3309 Burlington Road, Greensboro Cost: FREE What is a community garden you ask? A community garden means many things to many people. For some, a community garden is a place to grow food, flowers and herbs in the company of friends and neighbors. For others, it’s a service project – a way to give back to the community by growing fresh produce to donate. Some use community gardens because they lack adequate space at their house or apartment to have a garden. Others take part in community gardening to build or revitalize a sense of community in their neighborhood. Whichever group you find yourself in, we’ve got the program to get you started. Your Guilford County Cooperative Extension Service is offering a workshop that will provide information and tips on what it takes to get started with a garden in your community (church, neighborhood, social club, school). Two compost units will be raffled off! The event is free and participants will also receive seeds to help get their gardens started this year.
