Gulf economies to expand 4.4% in 2014: IMF The International Monetary Fund has projected that the economies of the six Gulf Arab monarchies will expand by 4.4 per cent in 2014. The aggregate economic growth in 2013 for the Gulf Cooperation Council will be at 3.7 per cent. Addressing a meeting of the finance ministers of the six gulf countries in Riyadh today, the IMF deputy managing director, Nemat Shafik told that the GCC has continued to be one of the most performing economies. The GCC comprises the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Oil and gas receipts represent the bulk of their revenues. The IMF in its earlier forecast had predicted a combined growth rate of 3.7 per cent for 2013 and 3.78 per cent for 2014
