Gulfport officers assisted PCSO with a large warrant sweep south of Park Blvd. See below for the press release. 30 Wanted Suspects Arrested In Operation Street Sweep In South Pinellas County Release #15-010 Who: Pinellas County Sheriffs Office Judicial Operation Bureau -Violent Offenders Warrants Unit (VOWU) Patrol Operations Bureau Investigative Operations Bureau Support Services Bureau St. Petersburg Police Department United States Marshal Service Gulfport Police Department Treasure Island Police Department Pinellas Park Police Department FBI What: Deputies assigned to the Violent Offenders Warrants Unit (VOWU), along with various other Sheriffs Office components; and several law enforcement agencies have arrested 30 wanted suspects in Operation Street Sweep. Operation Street Sweep targeted 401 individuals with outstanding felony warrants in south Pinellas County. When: The operation ran from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on January 15, 2014. Where: The operation was conducted in south Pinellas County. Why/How: In a continuing effort to lower the number of outstanding warrants in Pinellas County, the Sheriffs Office Violent Offender Warrants Unit along with various other agency components; and jointly with the St. Petersburg Police Department, United States Marshal Service, Gulfport Police Department, Treasure Island Police Department, Pinellas Park Police Department and the FBI-conducted a 12 hour sweep targeting 401 individuals with felony warrants, 30 of them the most wanted with violent criminal charges or histories. During the operation, which was conducted on January 15, 2015 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., law enforcement teams fanned out across 11 zones in South Pinellas and arrested a total of 30 suspects on approximately 48 warrant charges to include aggravated battery, drug trafficking, drug possession, lewd and lascivious conduct, possession of ammunition, armed burglary, domestic battery by strangulation, etc. 8 of the arrested were from the 30 most wanted with violent criminal histories. They are identified as: James Anthony Chin, DOB: 12/24/1994 Thomas Shane East, DOB 02/07/1980 Nicholas Anton Hayes, DOB: 04/09/1973 Roderick Gerrard Jackson Jr., DOB: 12/07/1990 Tarri Martaz Mahamery, DOB: 08/17/1982 Joshua Frelen Nelson, DOB 07/30/1992 Cameron Rashad Pittman, DOB 12/15/1990 Austin Thomas Wolf, DOB: 09/25/1992 During the operation, one additional suspect was arrested for Criminal Mischief. Overall, the Sheriffs Office currently holds approximately 38,000 warrants (majority for minor offenses), of which approximately 12,600 are felony warrants. The Sheriffs Office will continue to pursue arrests of felony warrant suspects in the days and weeks to come.
