Gull Lake Starting Up Walking Tour Gull Lake has a long - TopicsExpress

Gull Lake Starting Up Walking Tour Gull Lake has a long history, dating back to the days of the 76 Ranch. Today, that history is still alive, thanks in no small part to the 76 Ranch House that still stands in the community. To celebrate that history, the Gull Lake Tourism Board made the decision this year to set up a Heritage Walking Tour, which will highlight the 20-plus buildings and locations that played a part in the town’s history. The tour includes the site of the first hotel in Gull Lake’s history, the Lakeview, as well as the Clarendon Hotel, which has stood for over 100 years in the community. Places that are long gone, like the tennis courts are part of the tour, as are places that still stand, including the former home of Gull Lake’s first postmistress. The entire walking tour will be self-guided, and visitors on the tour will have the ability to listen to audio about the various locations, allowing for a delve into the deeper history of the buildings and locations. Each location will also have a sign that will give a quick run-down of each location’s history. Signs for the tour will be installed in the first two weeks of August, and the audio has been recorded and is ready for upload to iTunes. It is expected that by mid-month, visitors to Gull Lake will be able to delve into the history of this unique town along the Trans Canada.
