Guru Granth Sahib Jee Saroops have travelled by ship all over the - TopicsExpress

Guru Granth Sahib Jee Saroops have travelled by ship all over the world. Local sangat has only expressed their objection to this practice in the last week. The reasons for not objecting over the last 35 years is beyond me, maybe they never saw an opportunity to point fingers and divide the sangat on previous occasions. To resolve the issues surrounding the difficulty of transporting Guru Sahib across continents, a number of years ago it had been suggested that a printing press be established in North America. Satnam Education Society had invited the SGPC to set up a printing press in Surrey a few years ago. The news about Satnam Education Societys intentions were well publicized at the time, and there were no objections expressed about the printing press from local sangat until a few days ago. Satnam Education Society had offered a location to print the saroops to the SGPC, and the SGPC would remain in charge of the printing process and decisions on how many saroops would be made. The discussions that were had years ago was that printing would only need to take place a very short period each year or every other year to fulfill the need for saroops in North America. The SGPC declined Satnam Education Societys request a few years ago, as they had decided to build a printing press in North Carolina instead, which never went ahead. Satnam Education Society has kept discussions open with the SGPC and DSGMC leaders, regardless of which political parties were in power in regards to the printing press issue. To that end we have had discussions with Manjit Singh GK, the president of DSGMC regarding the need of a printing press and had invited him to Surrey to further those discussions. The drama created in the last few days has convinced the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib that the best solution to the issue of transporting Guru Sahibs saroops is to build a printing press in North America. While we are busy looking for solutions to a problem, there are others who are busy calling-names, playing politics, and trying to hash out ways of putting blame on someone for an issue which needs to be looked at from a panthic perspective, not a personal blame perspective. The people pointing fingers are against shipping of Guru Granth Sahib Jee by sea (a valid belief), against printing of Guru Granth Sahib Jee in North America (some are against printing of Guru Sahib at all), have never organized air transportation of Guru Granth Sahib Jee and as far as I know, none of them have finished, started or have stated their intentions to make a handwritten saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Jee. To me, it seems that they would rather not have Darshan of Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaj in North America. As they have done absolutely nothing productive on this issue. Satnam Education Society is not perfect, we can use a lot of guidance from the broader sangat on how to do seva better. As long as the sangat is giving their suggestions based solely on Gurbani Satkar, not on the politics and mud-slinging that has been so disheartening over the last few days. Suggestions should be given with compassion and a forgiving heart instead of with condemnation and anger.
