Ramachander Iyer Apaara Karunaa Sindhum Gnyaanadham Shaantha Roopinnam Sri Chandrashekhara Gurum Pranamaami mudhaanvaham I salute with joy, My teacher Chandrashekara Who is the great ocean of mercy, And who is wise and peaceful. 1 He provided protection to Shastras, By the Thursday assemblies and Provided protection to Vedas, By the assemblies held on day of Anuradha. 2 During the month of Marga seersha, He popularized the reading of prayers, And created the jeweled trust, For the interpretation of Vedas. 3 He organized the association of Veda Dharma, For popularizing the true methods of Karma, He created the Vidhyaranya trust, For popularizing the Vedanta. 4 He created the Uttangitha trust, For popularizing sculpture, And the Veda Go rakshana trust, For taking care of Brahmins and cows. 5 The guru then got constructed , Schools, and cattle yards , And set up the Kanyadhana trust, For marriage of young girls. 6 He created the Kachi Moodhoor trust, For helping the priests of temples, And he also made arrangements , For looking after suffering children and elders. 7 By cremating the body of orphan, One gets the effect of conducting Aswamedha, And obeying this great tenet, He made arrangements for that. 8 Then the great devotee of God, Undertook pilgrimages of temples, And also consecrated idols, In many places for their good. 9 For fulfilling the desire of the devotees, He organized the writing of Rama’s name, And also got constructed a silver chariot, For riding of Goddess Kamakshi. 10 He got covered the Vimana of Goddess Kamakshi, With leaves made of Gold, And brought reforms in the conduct, Of the festival in her temple. 11 He got made a golden chain, With one thousand names of Lalitha, And also organized the running, Of Golden chariot during the parva. 12 He got made a crown of Vaidoorya, Made for the Nataraja of Chidambara, And jeweled tiara to cover the feet, And the hands that give blessing. 13 By organizing the fist full of rice scheme, He provided the poor with meals, And also organized in well to do temples, The distribution of Prasadas. 14 For the sake of the welfare of people, That great teacher has done a lot, And thinking about him and saluting him, Would give a productive meaning to our life. 15
