Guy refuses to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance during a city council meeting. On the one hand, he is correct - you are not required to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance, and I feel the mayor did the right thing by having him leave until it was over. On the other hand, our Flag is a symbol of the freedoms that he enjoys and actually grants him the right NOT to participate in the Pledge. Having said that, it is my opinion that a more educated man would recognize the irony, and would participate in the Pledge realizing that hes doing nothing more than honoring the symbol of the freedoms he enjoys in this Country. Furthermore, a real man has convictions and stands for Truth. A real man recognizes freedom, purity, and honor and would not have a problem participating in such acts. Now, if you dont believe in God then that is a completely different matter. However, I get the feeling like he opposes the Pledge because he can - not because he has any tangible reason to oppose it.
