Fly posting is a concern for local residents and makes an area appear run down and can encourage further environmental crime. Fly posters can also cause a distraction to motorists. Offenders can include those who put up posters, those who receive publicity from the posters and those on whose property the poster is displayed. Offenders can be charged for the removal of posters, given fixed penalties or prosecuted in a Magistrate’s Court. To avoid any of these possible outcomes I ask that you remove all posters promoting your group which have been put up without permission in Knowsley within 48 hours. A number of ‘Save Whiston’s Greenbelt’ posters have already been removed from Council furniture. If more posters are erected in the future then the posters will be removed and the costs of doing this will be recovered. You should use alternative legitimate methods for advertising your activity and I hope that with your cooperation the sanctions described above will be unnecessary.
