Guys Im going to post this up here for anyone not already inhabiting the team pages. Its from Andrew Sawyers, the Tan Commander, and constitutes bloody good advice. I strongly recommend you follow most of it, obviously we are not playing through the night... Essentially coming off a BattleSim whereupon we played what will be the Green Team we had full resupply of ammo back at the re spawn - this did not favorably or unfavorably balance the game in withers sides favor - but rather prevented the green team unfairly running dry and thus being cut off due to considerable distances with no real chance of getting quickly back into the fight. In many respects this allowed for a continued pace of play throughout the day ... Water - I took 4 x 500 ML bottles and 2 Ltrs of water in a a Hydration Bladder - two of those bottles went straight in my BDU pockets and had the Bladder to sip on throughout the day - the other two bottles were kept with my day sack - this kept me hydrated throughout the day - I did however use it all - and had to replenish this on day two ... I also had a few cans of coke, and a few bottles of Gatorade and Powerade - purely as a sugary alternative ... Additionally I also had essentially what was a small packed lunch of relatively non perishable food items which if kept out of direct sunlight (in day sack in truck) providing no end of quick snacks ... Kit Kats etc Zip-locked Porkpies and pre bought sandwiches - a few packets of crisps, so on and so forth - all shareable and quick to eat and and detritus was promptly placed in the black sack attached to the truck ... I additionally had and MRE for the latter phase - but that was specifically preserved for the night phase where turns were taken to patrol and conduct OP over watch and that was consumed during a rest period. I personally feel the calibre of players that attended the last Ai500 will endure and cope with the rigors of The Sandpit - but hydration needs to be observed and the buddy buddy system of sharing water, smokes, and sweets etc will only seek to further morale and comradeship and continue the Ai500 in good tradition. Whilst Im looking to give the green team the good fight the deserve - I will be asking my team to be reflective of the unique nature of the site and allow people to move out of firefights etc and really observe patience, sportsmanship and good play - this is an amazing site, unlike no other - but it can be testing on the soul. Much to my dismay my team bowed out early from a recent 12 Hr game having found a little too exhausting. Personally I feel the Ai500 family will cope, especially after enduring -3 degree weather overnight at the last one - a little sun and sand will probably be a relief. My tanks to Andrew for sharing this
