Guys, November in, another report on the state of the union... - TopicsExpress

Guys, November in, another report on the state of the union... :D We have grown in numbers as we approach our 2 year mark. It has been without a doubt a hell of ride with organizing, maintaining and running of tournaments, events and the shop in general... and best part, we still love doing what we do... Two years dailing in, we at the shop have made new friends, new acquaintance and welcomed new fellow shopkeepers into the fold. At Sparta, we welcome the competition because it means the community is growing. It means we have done something right. We believe that with more shops, it would foster next generation of gamers because it makes it easy for them to hangout and enjoy similar things, and that is the pillar of the gaming industry. MtG or Vanguard would not have grown if it wasnt for the players and the communuties that supports it. Same goes for other games as well. We started with this goal in mind, and we hope that we have held on to it till now. But as such, there is the economics of running a shop, a business as well. Things are not looking up economy wise as prices of oil increases (or should we say subsidies reducing) and generally the ringgit has not increase in value. This makes life very hard for us as we bring in our stuff from abroad and we have to convert to pay in mostly USD. That coupled with our very low spending power... makes us have to choose the difficult choice of maintaining prices and continue to be profitable. A shop have to be profitable in order to survive but striking a balance between whats is acceptable to our players and what is acceptable to us has been nerve wrecking. (Chill Chill, we are not increasing our prices for any of our products, just merely stating the facts here) And best part, things are going to be a tad interesting after GST is implemented, in which Sparta will most likely have to charge you guys as well. We have been in a limbo until recently and we are getting things sorted out, and hopefully nothing changes... but if it does, we hope to still have your support. Speaking of support, Sparta will be starting a new venture soon, which we dont want to blow the lid just yet, but it will help us, in the long run, to maintain our prices and gives us the extra profitability that we need to sustain the shop and our lives. So when the time comes, hopefully we can bank on you guys to cheer us on. It would be an interesting venture and hopefully delicious to you guys... :P On a sad note, we will be losing one of our staff next month because of family commitments. Acap has been instrumental to Spartas growth the past year and has been a wonderful person to have known. You will forever be a brother here at Sparta!! So with the last month on hand, lets have him leave with a bang!!! Whenever he is not busy, ask him for a game and for the following month, any boardgames with Acap is free on the house!!! (No need to pay for rental) Another exciting month ahead, and the final two months of the year. We at Spartan Games Arena thank you for all the kind words and support that has been given us, and we hope to continue to give you guys the best gaming experience in town!!! :D TL;DR: Thanks guys for supporting us. Economy sucks. Also support our new venture (details coming soon) Acap leaving. (Sob Sob) Boardgames with Acap is free till he leaves (Yay!!) You guys are awesome!
