Guys and Gals: Yall know me. I like to get all up in topical discussions n stuff. Im trying stay away from too much huffing and puffing about Israel, but its hard to reconcile the events of this past month as a person who is supposedly represented by one side of this issue. Im going to let you into my line of thinking, in hopes that these logical inconsistencies Im noticing in Western Media/popular Jewish opinions gets people thinking about peace. + My Initial/Default Stance: Israelis are bad and Palestinians are justified because Netanyahu is a conservative jackass on the same level of slime as Dick Cheney or Bush (W or otherwise) - Sympathetic Counterpoint: Well, Hamas really is a terrorist organization, the PLO and particular religious culture of this region (i.e. NOT MUSLIMS EVERYWHERE) certainly places a different emphasis on coexistence/meaning of life+death than we do, so Israel has do what it has to do...additionally, these tunnels from Gaza do present an obvious danger to the people of Israel. + ****What I Actually Believe**** (If anything I say strikes a bad note, ask me to cite sources): 1. The threat to Israel is largely over-stated and PURPOSEFULLY mistranslated for the purpose of justifying revenge. 2. Israel already took responsibility for fabricating the Kidnappings that led to a full-scale military effort. 3. SEEING THAT GAZA IS ONE OF THE MOST DENSELY POPULATED INTERNATIONAL BOUNDARIES IN THE WORLD I.E. A PRISON, civilian causalities are inevitable when the IDF uses their high powered depleted-uranium rocket shells and other horrendous devices. The Hamas is using Human Shields argument is a bullshit, slanderous argument and has been proven to be simply not accurate. 4. SOCIAL MEDIA has tapped into the Jewish paranoia (as well as Guilt, perhaps) regarding the threat of annihilation and in turn radicalized Israeli youth to largely and publicly support the genocide of Palestinians. Whether this is true or not is irrelevant—some of the pro-IDF social media data is disgusting and shows that old school religion still dictates a large majority of things for the rest of us. 5. Whatever happened to Compassion?
