The Telangana decision as you all are aware has become an issue, because of the fact that all the investment was carried out only in Hyderabad. We Uttarandhrites have been deprived of many things and it is time now for an overall development of the state. While many proposals have been proposed in cities like Vizag, but the implementation was done in Hyderabad and unfortunately cities like Vizag have been deprived of many important establishments due to this neglect. There have been proposals saying that a new capital would be created in Seemandhra. All the investment that goes into creating a new capital can be used in developing the entire state instead. We Vizagites urge you to invest now in Vizag and make it the capital with less investment as there is decent infra in place in Vizag for being a capital. Listed below are the advantages of making Vizag the Capital: Why only Vizag deserves to be the capital of Seemandhra. Vizag is the biggest city on the east coast of India after the metros of Chennai and Kolkata. It is a strategic location in the Indian ocean and a very important Naval hub. With a population of 2 million residents it will soon be in the league of metros with proper development and guidance. Firstly considering the present state of Andhra Pradesh, no other part of Andhra has such a rich cosmopolitan ambiance other than Vizag, owing to the presence of Public sector units like RINL Vizag steel, NTPC, Vizag Shipyard, HPCL, Coromandal fertilizers, BHPV now merged with BHEL, Eastern Naval Command, upcoming BARC etc etc. Secondly the infra required for a capital is already available in Vizag and one can create a new capital without investing much in Vizag. One doesnt have to create a new city and make it a capital. As there is already an International airport that is available it is easy to create a capital here. Secondly, again from the state point of view, Ananthapur in Seema,is close to Bangalore which has an Intl Airport, Chittoor has Tirupathi and Chennai Intl Airport, Kurnool has Hyderabad. But, Uttarandhra comprising of Vizag, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts is the most backward region of Andhra much more than the backward districts of Telangana. This fact is well known and even Telangana leaders have endorsed this recently when they were asking for merger of these districts in Telangana. So, it becomes imperative for Vizag to develop inorder for these districts to develop. Vizag contributes 26 billion dollars GDP anually and is in the top 15 cities in India. So, even in this aspect Vizag deserves to be the capital. Also with peace loving people of the region it must be an automatic choice for capital. From the national point of view, the southern parts of Odisha and Chattisgarh are very big deposits of Iron ore and also affected by Maoists. This regions development is completely dependent on Vizags development as it is the biggest city in the region. Vizag aslo acts as the medical hub in this region as people from Chattisgarh, Odisha, Bengal all come here for treatment. Also, Vizag is the educational hun with students coming here from all these regions. And owing to the central location of Vizag on the east coast between Kolkata and Chennai, it can become the gateway of India on the east with proper development and direction. Also Vizag being a big hub of Tourism with proper development of Tourism infra, the country will prosper even more. So, from the national point of view Vizag is for sure the front runner for being the capital. Citing reasons like that the city is far away from Ananthapur, Nellore is just a propaganda. Chennai, Trivandrum, Mumbai, Kolkata are all located in a corner in their respective states. So, keeping national interests in mind the center should make Vizag the capital, ensuring all round development of all parts of AP. That would be the ideal way. Apart from this the govt. should establish IIT at Vizag as there wont be an IIT in Seemandhra region. An IIM at Vijayawada and an NIT in Kurnool/Ananthapur. A new medical college should be setup in Tirupathi. Vizag should immediately be sanctioned a Metro rail project of about 10000 crore Rupees to de-congest traffic. Traffic in Vizag is a very big issue and should not be neglected. The airports runway must be extended in order to facilitate Boeing jumbo landings and new international flights from Vizag to Dubai, Kuala Lampur, Bangkok should be introduced and Vizag should be made gateway of India on the east. Vizag should be the administrative, tourism and medical capital. Vijayawada educational and Business capital and Tirupathi the cultural capital. Apart from this Vizag should immediately be showcased as thee IT and Industrial destination as even though there is an existing IT-SEZ in place there are no big investors in Vizag. There are thousands of Engineering graduates of Seemandhra region who are going out to Chennai, Hyderabad or Bangalore for their jobs. Creating adequate opportunities in this region will be beneficial to local youth. Hope the center grants our wishes and we request you to kindly look into these issues.
