Guys, this is kind of an addendum to our ADAMS-RITE CYLINDER SPIN-OUT PROP video we did a couple weeks back. The only expensive part of that prop is the lock-cylinder itself, which can go for about $15 if you have to buy new. A cheap alternative is a 3/4-inch black-pipe or galvanize cap and a 3/4-inch close fitting. Put some Gorilla Glue or Liquid Nails in the cap and thread the pipe-fitting into it. Allow to dry. You can also do a couple of spot-welds if thats more your bag. Now put the cap in the prop-body and mark your spot on the pipe-fitting for where to drill. Once marked, put it in a bench-vise and drill out both sides with a 1/4 or 5/16 drill bit. Boom ready to go, for about $5. I still like the real cylinder better, but we all have to bow to the budget.
