Guys, we need to talk about COSMOS. Its great that the show is so popular, but its more valuable than just giving ammunition to make fun of religious fundamentalism and fuel Internet atheists smug egos. NDT is an awesome host - its not a slight against him. Lets not forget that a major element of Carl Sagans legacy is social, too: he positioned himself, and his views, to advocate for human beings -- against oppression. He challenged the status quo. He was a progressive, compassionate person that was a vocal supporter of social justice. Science was a means to this end. To reject that part of his contribution is to gloss over a fundamental part of what made him such a remarkable man.
