Guys which ever way you look at the current situation in Toolondo - TopicsExpress

Guys which ever way you look at the current situation in Toolondo regarding the low water levels & the total lack of support from the water management people & the Water Minister, you can only conclude that the situation defies logic on every level. I have to ask myself, “Why are they acting in this manner?” Sadly it would seem that the entire issue has been reduced to a spiteful & vindictive situation, where the very people who have the power to change the situation with a couple of phone calls, are choosing not to. It would seem that they at this very moment, are totally obsessed with avoiding the Rocklands water level trigger points, that would allow water to be transferred to Toolondo. Are they taking this option simply because they can? Is it more important to them, to be seen to be winning the battle against those radical members of society who are desperate for Toolondo to be saved? Did the public outcry & backlash that resulted from their past deplorable management of the resource, cut so deep that they are now committed to destroying the place, no matter what logic & arguments are put up against their current coarse of action? I personally really struggle, to come to an understanding of the twisted thinking required to take this type of action. Here we are, with water spewing out of Rocklands, down the river to go out to sea. Moora Moora has had water pouring out of it for weeks. Just one week of this volume of water, sent to Toolondo, would see the lake safely through the coming summer. The people with the power to change this, seem hell bent on doing what they are, simply because they can, its almost as if they are taking the attitude of, “Well show these jerks whos boss!!& to hell with their lake!!” Toolondo, means absolutely nothing to them, so whether it exists or not, is irrelevant to them. This was demonstrated perfectly by the Water Minister when he was approach by some of our members. I guess all we can do is to keep fighting, god knows the cause is worth it. Trevors busting his butt doing what he can & I think his rally idea is a good one, so anyone who can support in any way should. The other angle being tossed around a bit, is the political approach. I reckon that if any candidate in the upcoming state election, would present themselves with a solid gold guarantee to save the lake, they would win in a landslide.. Well thats all I have to say, may not make one bit of difference but at least I got it off my chest. Cheers Geoff Stock.
