Guys you need to read this article. Even at this time when so many people are football fans we really ought to take a look to what has happened to the #GoldenJaguars. We had a bright spark and a period of great promise but as a young and very green sport writer at the time I could see that the upward trajectory was temporary. I remember doing some articles on FIFA allocations, spending and football development in the Stabroek News and the GFF calling a press conference to attack me. Following which I became persona non grata. Colin Klass was president at the time and he has since been proven to be corrupt. But corruption is endemic in Guyana and no less so in sport administration; from Cricket to the Olympic association to football the story is the same. With regard to football we moved from having one of the largest jumps in FIFA rankings to the single largest drop this year. This is worth remembering even as we enjoy the World Cup!
