H.P. Lovecraft Story of the Week...Dagon. Well since our Great Old One of the Month is Dagon it is no surprise that we have this story up this week. Our previous stories this month have been both versions of The Shadow Over Innsmouth and now....Dagon. This story written in 1917 was, like many of H.P.Lovecrafts stories, was based on a dream and tells of an unknown narrators horrid adventure of being a Merchant Marine during WW1 and how his cargo ship was captured by Germans and how he managed to escape on a lifeboat and after drifting for a while reached a strange island. This island is made of seaweed, ooze and dead fish stretched out to a great distance and upon exploring it comes across a gigantic white monolith tattooed in hieroglyphs & strange carvings and while gazing at it a huge fishlike-humanoid creature slinks out of the sea and embraces the monolith , the narrator fleas and.....well sure many the ending... so any thoughts on this tale from a young HPL??
