H.P. Lovecraft Story of the Week. The Hound. Our last story by H.P. up for discussion was The Shadow Out of Time and now this week in connection with this months theme being the Necronomicon we have the first story in which the dreaded tome was ever mentioned...The Hound. This story written in 1922 tells of two friends who share a curious obsession with grave robing and since they also live together have turned their abode into a not so humble museum of grizzly & morbid curiosities. One day they hear of a grave that is too tantalizing to ignore even if its far away in Holland; the grave of a kindred spirit, another grave robber. To sweeten the hunt it is said that he stole a potent thing from an mighty sepulcher so of course the game is afoot. Upon finding the grave and opening it they discover the long dead resident looking quite fresh with a curious amulet atop his chest. Could it be one that was described in the Necronomicon? Soon they are back home with their trophy ...and things get weird. A mysterious howling follows them, deaths occur, more howling, and..well.... Sure many here know the rest. If not do read this wonderfully Poe like tale. Thoughts good people?
