H/T to my friend Charlotte Costa for this excellent assessment of Amendment 2: I am not against the legalization of medical marijuana. I am against the wording within the law. 1. Currently the way it is written a person can obtain marijuana. This by no way limits a teenager from going to the doctor and obtaining a prescription for marijuana without a parents consent. While your health should be between you and your doctor, a teenager should not be allowed to go to their doctor and claim they have anxiety and be able to legally obtain marijuana without a parents approval. 2. A caregiver is allowed to assist patients medical use of medical marijuana. There is no licensing or certification in order to become a caregiver. I could say 5 of my buddies are my patients, and now Im legally allowed to possess marijuana. Felons and drug dealers can also be caregivers. 3. There are no guidelines in which this drug can be prescribed. Someone could easily go to the doctor and say I cant sleep at night or I have stress and obtain medical marijuana. 4. The grower, the caregiver and the doctor are immune to liability. Thus who is responsible when someone get seriously hurt from bad pot? According to this law: No one.
