HAD FUN assisting Aleks Luz Bahia again for CFdB Capoeira Kids class yesterday :) Lovely energy! Its really amazing to assist a student of Mestre Amen Santo and find the variations in teaching style, from school to school & Capoeirista to Capoeirista. Capoeira - there is always something new to find, learn, observe, absorb & conquer in oneself. This week at CFdB, I have met 3 students who are all about 6 years deep in Capoeira and returning to Capoeira training after a long break, all of them had said that a main reason why they left was that they LOST HEART because they struggled with Capoeira Music, so, given the opportunity this is what I focussed on in Music Class. Also, students generally want to improve in their singing which is often a daunting activity in Western societies :) AWESOME to share some Voice & Vocal science techniques & combine them with Finding your Capoeira Music Voice, combining with Capoeira instruments, Singing in Portuguese & playing Berimbau at the same time - building stamina to keep the energy flowing strong while multi-tasking & leading in Capoeira music. Being so inspired by the Capoeiristas from Asia & their musical level, who I trained with recently at Mestre Neis event in Sydney, I loved finding some new exercises for myself & others to practice alone - working with songs or toque that we already know, :)
