HANDGUN HOMEWORK : STAGE 3B Immediate Action Drill (LIVE) Stage Three B - Ten rounds (2 magazines 5 rounds each) / 5 yards You practiced it dry. Now its time to go live. Couple of pointers : When manipulating the handgun and clearing the malfunction, your handgun should remain in your strong hand. You should maintain a firing grip on the gun and do the Tap and Rack with your support hand. Why add lateral movement ? Imagine if I were coming straight at you with a knife in my hand. Would you stand still or try to move away from me ? Movement is vital. You should practice it. Why is scanning important ? Imagine that the piece of paper you just shot was an actual human being. What should happen to a person if their body was impacted by bullets ? They would or should fall to the ground. Right ? So, scan them down to the ground and make sure they are down. Now look for his buddies. Look to the right. Check the threat to make sure they are still down. Look to the left. Check the threat again. Now check the whole world around you. Once you are absolutely sure the threat isnt getting back up and he doesnt have any buddies, then you can re-holster. Oh, yeah, do all of this while continuing to MOVE. When you practice this on the range, people will look at you like you are crazy. Let them be bench shooters if they want. You are training for an actual self defense situation. Hope to see you out there.
