HANDSOME MASTIFF SEEKS FOSTER OR ADOPTIVE HOME HBRs Colt is a 1 1/2 year old Neapolitan Mastiff. He has been in the care of Bill Dion K9 Training for almost 2 months now. There Bill and Colt have worked on Colts issues which stemmed from a giant puppy being raised in an environment where he learned to rule the roost and get whatever he wanted with bad behaviour. Colt is now looking for a foster home or adoptive home that can give him structure first, and then affection, as this is what he needs to continue to thrive. Bill has been wonderful to work with. He has laid out what Colts new foster or adoptive home needs to be. He has also said that he will help with the transition to Colts new home and will be there to help going forward as well. We all want to set Colt up to be successful in his new home. Here are Bills guidelines for what Colt is looking for: 1) Structure, Rules, Boundaries, and Leadership. These key elements lacked in his development as a pup and adolescence which contributed to his behavioural issues. All of these elements have been reintroduced to Colt as part of his training and rehab and need to continue in his new home. 2) Colt requires a strong and confident human who can be his leader. Colt will not do well with a soft, timid, or passive person. Experience with large, powerful breeds is a must. 3) No young children. 4) Colts new family will need to hold back on the love and affection for the first 30 days. Then gradually provide him with affection when he does something good. This will help him trust the new humans in his life, which is very important for his continued development. 5) Bill will be available to help transition Colt into his new home. He will also provide the family with a basic but important session on dog behaviour and dog psychology. This will be imperative for Colts continued success. Does your home fit the bill for Colt?
