HANFORD — Police say gang members invaded a popular teenage hangout near Hanford High School, ambushing three teenagers who dared to break ties with them. Witnesses said “between 20 and 30 people” rushed the teens Thursday at Earl F. Johnson Park, knocking them to the ground without warning. The mob continued to punch and kick them while they were down, then split before officers reached the area. The Kings County Gang Task Force questioned the victims, who admitted they used to associate with the very gang that targeted them. “Apparently they found out that one of the victims wants to grow up and be a police officer,” task force Supervisor Justin Vallin said. “They took that as a sign of disrespect.” Investigators identified about seven or more key suspects in the attack and began scouring the neighborhood for them. They tracked down three of them in the 600 block of East Malone Street. Police identified them as 18-year-old Salvador Angel and two minors, all well-known suspected gang members, Vallin said. The Gang Task Force continued investigating throughout the night and arrested two more suspects, both minors. All four underage suspects were booked into the Kings County Juvenile Center on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and participating in a criminal street gang. Angel was taken to the county jail and remains in custody on $75,000 bail. “We’ve got the main participants in custody now,” Vallin said. “Anyone else we arrest was not a major player in the assault. All of these guys are people we’ve had contact with before and many were on probation when this happened.” Police declined to name the three victims. They all received moderate injuries to their heads and upper bodies. BULLLSHIT!!!!
