HANG OUTS The places that you stayed to get away or just meet friends. Can you remember where that was? even as young kids we seemed the find that place. You follow the line to see what`s going on and then you start hanging out. One of those places was NINI`S . You saved your pennies to get your penny candy. there you meet the gang and headed to school. Even after school the group would hand. Another and maybe the best one was Mary`s. This place was run by Mary Kerr. You had everything you needed there. The in spot, seems like everyone was there. The good, the bad, and the ugly. All that were there new way they were there. As a young kid you learned how to act with the older group. Mary`s had the best red chille burros, hamburgers and chips. But the draw was the ping ball machines. With that nickel you could play a long time. There were contests to see how many free games you could get. Once you started mastering those games you started being part of the high group. Beat the game, build you name. it`s like all other things in life.. Get good at something and the people notice. Mary was such a good person that she would trust you with a lunch on credit. She was like a mother to a lot of young people there. Some other places that I remember was Cass`s down town. At this place candy, bus stop, magazines. If you were looking for reading material, these was the place. I mean Playboy was the big one then. As you traveled north you run across Dick`s. Dick Parks run this store. Like Cass`s he had the market in Gibson. The A&W came later and brought the car hop and the car craze. Food was good there. even the gas station across the A&W was a place to hang out. I thinking the skating rink was another although it was a select few. By few I mean a good crowd. I spent time there but didn`t skate. We skated in the street. Willey`s Surfer`s Palace had the same things as Mary`s but too far for a lot of us .It was set up for the older teens. Somebody told me the swimming pool was a hang out but not to me. went there the swim and dive off the board. (sing) I GET AROUND BEACH BOYS
