HANKS REVIEW OF X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST 1. This is a return to form for Singer. He definitely brought his A-game to this entertaining, yet flawed film. 2. James McAvoy is a great actor and is the highlight of this film in my opinion. His broken Charles Xavier is the star of the film. 3. I fully understand why they used Wolverine. And I understand that hes an iconic character, but the X-Men series over reliance on this character has gotten old and is probably the reason Jackman is open to new things. A non Wolverine X-Men film like First Class is what made that film so great. 4. Peter Dinklages Trask was a stark departure from the comic but he was very convincing in his role. He motivation as to why is never really revealed, which made the character a little one dimensional. 5. The Sentinels: Wow...they were actually pretty menacing and cool. Not so much with the earlier models, where they were more than a plot device rather than a true threat. 6. Quicksilver was a scene stealer and very funny. Underutilized, but a great role. 7. Mystique: definitely a great role for Jlaw, but Im kindve mad that we didnt get to see you know who along with her younger version....I wont spoil. 8. Why was Storm even in this movie. It pisses me off that they continually underutilize the Storm character. And dont get me started on how they totally wasted Bishop. 9. This blended the events of the X-Men films, First Class and un-did some of the events in X-Men 3. This film lets the world know that Singer is back and he has a few new tricks. Im interested to see what hell do with this next film. 10. The after credit scene: well I wont spoil but if you are familiar with X-Men villains, you KNOW right off who it is...I would have given him a better intro than that, even though this matches his backstory PERFECTLY, but when you see it, let me know if its just me or did the effects in that scene seem kindve....whack or under done... Three and a half out of four stars
