HAPOLI (Arunachal): Enchanted by Arunachal Pradeshs natural beauty, AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday expressed his willingness to settle at Hapoli, popularly known as Apatani plateau in Lower Subansiri district, after his retirement. Rahul, who arrived here to kickstart the election campaign for the April 9 simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the Himalayan state, was amazed at the panoramic beauty of the valley. I have never seen such a beautiful place anywhere in the country and willing to spend a few days here to enjoy the natural beauty, said the partys PM candidate, while addressing a massive public rally here this (Tuesday) afternoon. He said there was no dearth of beauty at Ziro (Hapoli) which cannot be measured. Arunachal has showed the country the path of peace and zealously protecting the culture and history of the state which should be emulated by all states of the country. Referring to the age-old relationship between Arunachal Pradesh and Gandhi-Nehru family, Rahul said in 1972, Indira Gandhi provided Union Territory status to the state while during 1987, Rajiv Gandhi gave statehood to Arunachal. Congress is committed to the development of Arunachal and wants to preserve the rich social, traditional and cultural heritage of the peace-loving tribals in its unique form, said Gandhi to the loud applause of people at the packed Subansiri Stadium here. Referring to the states immense potential in tourism, horticulture and hydropower, Rahul said more focus should be given on these sectors for overall development of the state as well as for the entire country.
