HAPPENING: The King Cobra being laid to rest By Staff Reporter An outpouring of deep genuine emotions of pain characterized the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka today as Zambians joined the First Family in mourning the departed President Michael Sata at a colourful ceremony attended by foreign heads of states and their representatives. Edgar Lungu, the party Secretary General, Minister of Justice and Defense whipped the gathered Zambians into tears when he himself was overcome by emotions and broke down and cried as he led the nation into mourning President Sata who died at 77 in West London Hospital, with his wife Dr Christine Kaseba by his bed side and his son Mulenga, the mayor of Lusaka. Perhaps of great significance in Lungu’s highly emotive speech is an open and public pledged the PF made to continue ‘taking care’ of the First Family even long after President Sata’s death. “To the First Lady this demise must be more devastating to you,” Lungu said, “The PF is your family madam First Lady…we too shall count on you to guide us. Let us unite and love one another even more.” A crashed Lungu concluded by saying: “Go well Mr. President...we shall honour you.” At the time of writing this up-date, mourners had joined the First family and government officials including foreign heads of states to Embassy Park opposite Cabinet Office, the final resting place of President Sata. President Sata will be most remembered for rolling out the largest infrastructure development projects since independence in 1964, which Lungu and Scott has pledged to carry on. In about 73 days or within, Zambians will be lining up to vote for a new President as per requirement by the law. Pics Courtesy of State House Press Office.
