HAPPY 68th BIRTHDAY, WARREN ZEVON! Alas, Warren died of cancer at age 56 at his LA home in 2003. He often wrote funny and/or satirical tunes. David Letterman was a huge fan. His career began when he wrote a few songs for The Turtles, like the 45 Outside Chance in 1965. His biggest LP was 1978s Excitable Boy that hit #8 & went platinum here. It includes the radio faves Lawyers, Guns & Money, the title song - and his biggest hit, the single for which he is most remembered, the great WEREWOLVES OF LONDON that hit #21. WEREWOLVES OF LONDON featured Fleetwood Macs rhythm section: Mick Fleetwood on drums & John McVie on bass, and James Taylors guitarist Danny Kortchmar, with backup vocals from Jackson Browne & JD Souther. I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand Walkin through the streets of Soho in the rain He was lookin for the place called Lee Ho Fooks Gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein Aaahoo! Werewolves of London Well, I saw Lon Chaney walking with the Queen Doing the werewolves of London I saw Lon Chaney, Jr. walking with the Queen Doing the werewolves of London I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vics His hair was perfect Werewolves of London again JUST GREAT!
