HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME! Today I have been unemployed for exactly four years. Four years as a priest without permission to officiate even though my only sin was to suffer from clinical depression (over twelve years ago now). Four years living on £500 per month. Four years without officiating in a church. What a waste of training! What a waste of learning! What a waste of a life! And all because the bishops of the Church of England and Scotland would rather watch the back of a bigoted, unbelieving colleague than acknowledge my existence let alone offer me a helping hand even when I ask them straight out for it. The man who told me I would have to retire when I returned to work after my illness (because he believed a person who had suffered from depression should never be a parish priest again) and who eventually dismissed me without any disciplinary proceedings or other due process, retired last month on a full bishops pension and with a gong from the Queen on his chest. I will not have such a comfortable retirement as he will enjoy, that is for sure. If the Church is the bride of Christ I fear she may well be shagging the devil behind his back. Christ would do well to divorce the self seeking whore and look up his old flame, Mary Magdalene. At least she believed in him and what he taught.
