HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM! Wish I could have been there for it. But give me a month or two and I will be! – Just a little late. Well it’s once again time for my weekly comments on the weather in England. We had a few weeks of amazing weather, really sunny, low 70s. I was loving it. But the past few days it’s been what I’ve started calling,”perma-cloud”. Basically, it’s when there is just one huge sheet of grey and constant rainy mist. Believe it or not, I’ve really come to love when the weather is like this. It will probably be this way for the rest of the week. It’s the best kind of rain, no down pours, just mist. It’s so typical of England and I’m always glad to see it come and go again. This past week was great! All weeks are on a mission. We are right in the middle of all the zone trainings currently. Every other transfer, the zone leaders of the 10 zones plan out a little meeting for all the missionaries in their zone to come to where we receive training, plan goals, and have personal interviews with President Millar (one by one throughout the meeting). It’s all topped off with a really good pot luck lunch. Elder Curran and I are asked to speak and participate at each of the trainings. So we spend half of the time planning what we will address the missionaries on and the rest of the time going to these zone trainings all over the mission. It keeps us really busy, but it’s always fun. We have 5 more to go this week and next. And then right when we’re finished with all of those, we move on to the…drumroll...SECOND BI-MONTHLY WEEK 4 ROADTRIP!!!! WOO!!!! I don’t know if you remember or not, but last transfer, I think I mentioned that Elder Curran and I go on exchanges with all of the zone leaders in the mission in each of the zones once every transfer. So starting in April, Week 4 in the transfer has now become the time when we pile everything in the back of the car and set off for the west country, stopping in different areas along the way. Really, the main reason is just that it’s far more efficient to live out of the car for a week than travel back and forth. We do these exchanges to train zone leaders and make sure everything is running smoothly in their zone. It’s a really great opportunity to get a feel for how the work is going in that part of the mission too. President Millar presides over the mission and the work that is done there, but he can’t be everywhere. It’s been such a blessing to be a part of this. I have had some really special moments with missionaries where they spoke about their fears, their doubts, as well as their joys. A mission isn’t so much about missionaries spreading the message and finding those who desire to receive it as it is about young men and women growing and finding their faith, laying the foundation for their lives. Both are equally as important. And I have been so blessed to work with young missionaries and see them grow and become confident, loving disciples of Christ. I can attribute any growth I’ve experienced to those missionaries who have influenced and taught me so much throughout my mission. I still feel so inspired by all the missionaries we serve around. I’m constantly learning new things. We had the chance to go up to Hyde Park, London yesterday. One of the leaders of the Church came in to London to address some of the missionaries. It was a really special day because the man, Elder M. Russell Ballard, is one of the 12 apostles. We believe in an apostolic structure to the Church in our day, just as Christ’s church in the early days. They are non-paid clergy (all are in the LDS church) who have served in the church for many years and now lead the church through modern day revelation. It was a very spiritual experience for all in attendance. Elder Ballard is just an ordinary man, but his calling is very special. It was a unique experience to hear some of his counsel and experience. There was a sacred reverence about the whole day. We had the opportunity to go north of the river and see the Hyde Park chapel too which was fun (it’s far from our mission so we aren’t usually in that part of London). Monday was definitely one of the highlights of my mission so far. It was so great. I have to thank you for sorting out all of the things regarding when I’m back in Cincinnati. I’m glad you made contact with President Greenhalgh. Let me know if you have any questions or need to know anything else. You are definitely right, I love it out here. I love this work. But rest assured when it’s time for me to come back I’ll be SO grateful to be home. As much as I love all of this, I know it won’t last forever. I can’t wait to hug all of you guys! Keep me posted on everything regarding Natalie being in town! I can’t wait to hear about it all. Hope you guys have a fun week. Can I also mention that I can’t believe Aly is now officially a sophomore and Alaina is finishing up another semester of college? Slow time down please! I can’t wait to hug the both of them. Dad, I really do hope living in DC is in my future. I love that town. And of course you would be obligated to make tons of trips out to visit! Ha, who knows what will happen… Well that’s about all this week. I hope everyone is doing well! I love and miss you! Love, Elder Dressman
